About

This blog records my trip to Berlin for Fashion Week and the art, design and culture I discovered along the way. Berlin was the perfect city for the creative in me, filled with inspiration, overwhelming history and art literally around every corner.

BALLHAUS SWING

A large number of my course visited Clarachen's Ballhaus for a night of swing one evening, after hearing that Jake Gyllenhaal was rumoured to have paid a visit there how could we not?
The vibe inside was great and after a filling meal, and a bottle of wine, a few of us were soon up and joining the dance classes which were in full swing, (excuse the pun). The perfect way to spend an evening it was incredibly amusing and attracted all ages, (and abilities!), we particularly loved watching an elderly couple spinning each other around the dance floor looking glamourous and very much in love. Unfortunately we weren't so lucky and us girls partnered up with each other, stumbling and jumping our way in a full hearted but not entirely successful attempt.

In the daylight earlier in the trip we stopped by the Ballhaus to take in its history, opened in 1913 it had remained in the same family for 91 years, and as we found out later, still remained true to its history inside.

Outside we spotted further street art which complimented the beauty of the building rather than detract from it.
